If you have been bereaved by suicide, you need not struggle on alone -
join the Nottingham East Midlands' S.O.B.S. Group.
Our motto is “There is a future out there for you”.
We offer this website as a gateway to a safe place to meet and speak with others who have similarly suffered loss by suicide.
To this end, we provide an e-mail support line where you can talk over any practical issues that you are facing as a result of your bereavement. This is not a crisis or counselling service, but a one-to-one response route (within 48 hours) to offer help with your current difficulty. Please don't hesitate in contacting us, you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome.
However, if you are in urgent distress, and need to speak to someone immediately, you may prefer to call the National Helpline on 0844-561-6855 anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. every day.
One of our members has written about her personal experience of suicide and how she has dealt with the problem. This came about because there were few English publications on this subject. The title is "Shades of Suicide" © 2006 AMD/March Hare UK written by Ann M. Davies. The poem which follows is taken from this publication.
And what of tomorrow? Will the pain ever leave?
Some say yes, others say no
We have no answer – only our pain
And it seems to us an endless refrain
The tides and seasons ebb and flow
The sun and moon come and go
Minds, hearts and bodies meet and part in life’s continuous song
This, this song of life will bear us through our pain
And in it, one day I know, we shall our love regain.
